AI Internship Programme

Introduction

To groom the next generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) talents in Singapore, AI Singapore (AISG), in collaboration with the Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT), has introduced the AISG AI Internship Programme (AIIP). AIIP offers a unique opportunity for young talents to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of AI. Successful applicants will work alongside AISG’s AI Engineers and AI Apprentices on real-world projects that span across diverse AI domains, including Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI (Large Language Model).

Programme Details

AIIP is a 3 – 6 month structured programme that immerses you in the world of AI. The internship comprises of two phases:

  • Deep-skilling Phase (3 weeks): The first three weeks are dedicated to establishing a strong foundation in AI and software engineering proficiency. Interns will undergo intensive training and hands-on exercises to build their technical skills and knowledge, primarily using Python.
  • Project Phase (Remaining duration): Following the deep-skilling phase, interns will embark on real-world AI projects, guided and mentored by AISG AI Engineers. This phase provides invaluable experience in developing AI solutions, allowing interns to apply their knowledge to practical challenges and make tangible contributions.

Throughout the internship, you’ll receive a monthly stipend of up to SGD2,000.

There are three intakes of internships offered per year:

  • January to May/June
  • May to August
  • August to December/January

Minimum Requirements

  • Singapore Citizen
  • Enrolled as a full-time student in Singapore autonomous universities at the point of admission to the Programme
  • Able to commit on a full-time basis to the entire internship period

Competency Requirements

  • Intermediate programming experience in Python
  • Understand basic data pre-processing (handling missing data, outliers etc…)
  • Able to understand and interpret basic statistical descriptions of data
  • Able to build machine learning models and understand model performance metrics
  • Able to build data pipelines to train and build your models
  • Able to perform basic code documentation (Readme, docstrings and requirements.txt)

Applicants should have preferably undergone a module in Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning.

Additional plusses
  • Knowledge in deep learning with application (CV, NLP etc.)
  • Able to use GitHub/GitLab and perform proper code check-in/out and repository
  • Able to do Linux shell scripting

Application Process

  • Step 1 – Complete and submit the AIIP application form
  • Step 2 – Complete the 5-day take-home Technical Assessment
  • Step 3 – Interview with the AIIP Committee*

*Only shortlisted AIIP applicants from the Technical Assessment will be invited to the Interview Stage

*The official internship period is from 13 May to 8 August 2025 for the summer internship. This is the minimum internship period and start and end dates are fixed.
If you wish to do a credit-bearing internship and require a longer internship period, please indicate the minimum period of internship required for your university course. We will take this into consideration when assessing your application, but cannot guarantee that a longer internship period will be available this cycle. You may also wish to consider another internship cycle during the year for credit-bearing purposes (see Programme Details).
